Your Life –
We believe God cares about the one. We value everyone – even those who have yet to step through our front door. Our hope is that we are able to come alongside and partner with each individual on their unique journey with God.
Your Family –
We believe God makes good families better and broken families whole. We believe there is no such thing as a perfect family – just like we don’t believe in perfect people. We do believe families are uniquely crafted teams created by God and when working together, they can be strengthened to a new level. Our hope is to build strong families and reconstruct broken ones into being stronger than ever.
Our Community –
We believe the Church exists to strengthen a community. Timbers is a church for the community and we desire to see it thrive. Our heartbeat has always been for Rogers and its’ surrounding area. We will strive to serve it to the best of our ability, for we are honored to be a part of this amazing community.
Our World –
We believe missions has to be a priority and not an afterthought. Timbers refuses to wait to take action. We are committed to praying, giving, and going. Our name, “Timbers” comes from the beginnings of the city of Rogers, where the Great Northern Railroad purchased one acre of land to ship out the rich timber resources in the area. Our heartbeat is to be a sending church!
Our Dream for Timbers Church is to be obedient and multiply! When we first hear obedient, typically, our soul doesn’t respond with a sense of excitement. However, we believe it strategically places us to experience the adventure of a lifetime. Jesus builds the church (Matthew 16:18), so when we walk in obedience with what He is doing, then we experience a life more satisfying than anything else ever could. Our desire is to be a safe place for imperfect people to experience God’s grace and mercy, while on the journey of walking out a faith filled, obedient life. (Matthew 28:20 NIV)
Our Dream for multiplication is to see healthy individuals replicating themselves. We love seeing the church equip others to continue the work of the ministry – which is so much bigger than the functions inside the church! There is so much joy and reward found in mentorship, discipleship, releasing, and sending people! Most think of babies when multiplication is mentioned – while we love babies and growing the church that way – we believe that healthy, fruitful things multiply (John 15:4 – 5 NIV)… a healthy tree will continue to grow branches and will drop seeds to plant more trees. This is our hearts’ desire for Timbers Church.
We want to see the church thriving – multiplying, all while being obedient to His commands and the vision He has placed in our heart for Timbers Church.
About the Bible
We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error andcompletely relevant to our daily lives.
(Deuteronomy 4:1-2; Psalms 119:11, 119:89; 119:105; Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 22:29; John 5:39; 16:13-15; 17:11; Romans 15:4; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17, Hebrews 1:1-2; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:21; 3:16)
About the Trinity
God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they possess equal power and authority.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 61:1; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 1:35; John 5:21-23; 14:10; 14:16; Romans 8:9-11; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:8-10; James 2:19)
We believe God is great: He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, Holy. It is in Him that we live, move and exist. God is good. He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises. (Exodus 3:14; Numbers 23:19; Leviticus 11:44-45; Psalm 11:4-6; Malachi 3:6; John 3:16; 4:24; 5:26; 14:1; Acts 17:28; Romans 3:3-4)
We believe Jesus Christ to be the virgin born Son of God who lived in flesh, died for the sins of the world, was buried, rose again bodily, and ascended to the Father. He and He alone is the only plan for bringing people back into a right relationship with God.
(Isaiah 7:14; 53; Matthew 1:18-23; 3:17; 8:29; 14:33; 16:16; 28:5-6; Luke 22:70; 24:46-47; John 1:1, 14; 10:30; 11:25-27; 17:1-5; Acts 1:9; 2:22-24; 7:55-56; Romans 1:3-4; 3:23-26; 8:1-3; 10:4; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 5:19-21; Gal 4:4-5; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15; 2:9; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; 3:16)
About the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit’s presence assures us of our relationship with Christ He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He baptizes us, comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.
(Genesis 1:2; Psalm 51:11; 139:7; Isaiah 61:1-3; Joel 2:28-32 Mark 1:10; Luke 1:35; 4:1; 11:13; 12:12; 24:49; John 15:26; 16:7-14: Acts 1:4; 1:8: 2:1-4; 13:2; Romans 8:9-11; 8:14-16; 8:26-27; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; Ephesians 1:13-14; 2 Peter 1:21; Revelations 22:17)
We believe that all people were created in the image of God and are the supreme object of His creation. Mankind was created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
(Genesis 1:26-30; 2:7; 2:18-22; 3; Psalms 8:3-6; 32:1-5; 51:5; Isaiah 6:5; Jeremiah 17:5; Acts 17:26-31; Romans 1:19-32; 3:10-18; 3:23; 5:6; 6:6; 7:14-25; 1 Corinthians 1:21-31; 15:19; 15:21-22; Ephesians 2; Colossians 1:21-22; 3:9-11)
We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way for the forgiveness of sin. God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation cannot be earned, it is a gift from God.
(Isaiah 1:18, 53:5-6, 55:7, Matthew 1:21, 27:22-26, 28:1-6, Luke 1:68-69, 2:28-32, John 1:12, 3:16, 3:36, 5:24, Acts 2:21, 4:12, 16:30-31, Romans 1:16-18, 3:23-25, 5:8-10, 6, 1 Corinthians 1:18, 2 Corinthians 5:17-20, Galatians 2:20, 3:13, Ephesians 2:8-10, Philippians 2:12-13, Hebrews 9:24-28, Revelations 3:20)
About the Church
We believe in the universal church, the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith in the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him, and bringing the gospel to the world. We are God’s offense.
(Matthew 16:18-19, 18:15-20, Acts 2:41- 47, 5:11-14, 13:1-3, 14:23, 16:5, 20:28, 1 Corinthians 7:17, 9:13-14, 12, Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:19-22, 3:10-12, 5:22-23, Colossians 1:18, 3:15, 1 Timothy 4:14, 1 Peter 5:1-4, Revelations 21:2-3)
We believe people were created to live forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and forgiveness that comes only through Jesus Christ. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of external existence.
(Matthew 25:31-34, 25:41, John 3:16, 14:17, Romans 2:1-9, 6:23, Philippians 2:5-11, Revelation 20:11-15)
We believe God heals progressively, medically, miraculously, and eternally.
(Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:16-17, James 5:14-16)
About Water Baptism
We believe baptism is a public profession of faith in Christ. It is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. It is a declaration to the world that we have died to sin and have been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life. Jesus taught that all who repent and believe where to be baptized.
(Romans 6:4, Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:41, Acts 8:13, Acts 8:36-38, Acts 9:18, Acts 10:48)
We believe the Lord’s Supper, is a spiritual meal consisting of two elements: The bread and the cup. The bread symbolizes Christ’s body broken for us. The cup, filled with the fruit of the vine, represents the blood of Christ poured out for our sins.
(1 Corinthians 11:24-28, Matthew 26:26-29, Mark 14:22-25, Luke 22:14-20)
